Chongqing, the only municipality in west China, is right in the hinterland which joins the eastern part of China with western part of China. With tremendous developing potential, Chongqing is the largest center of economy, culture, and transport in southwest China. The Three Gorges Project construction and development of migrants from the reservoir area offered large space for Chongqing’s development. By holding the opportunity of Chinese Western Region Development, adjusting economic structure, expanding the open-up Policy and deeping the reform of the administrative system, Chongqing strengthen the comprehensive competitiveness among cities in China. During the ten years of municipality, Chongqing speed up the construction of basic installations and quickly develop economy and society in an all round way. The main economic indexes of Chongqing are in the first five comparing with the 12 western provinces. In recent years, more and more transnational corporations come to invest including 37 enterprises of 500 World Top. It is no doubt that Chongqing is developing faster and faster after being approved as an experimental area of Piloting Comprehensive Reform for Coordinated and Balanced Urban-rural Development in June, 2007.
